Dr. Matthew Johnson is a board certified ophthalmologist. He attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and graduated in magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Finance. He received his Doctor of Medicine from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. While attending SIU School of Medicine, he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.
Dr. Johnson completed a one year internship at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. He also trained at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center for his ophthalmology residency and completed his training. After completing residency, Dr. Johnson practiced comprehensive ophthalmology in Central Illinois prior to joining Hauser-Ross Eye Institute. Dr. Johnson is experienced in the latest techniques of cataract surgery and intraocular lens implantation. He practices comprehensive ophthalmology and has a special interest in anterior segment surgery including both cornea and microinvasive glaucoma surgery. He also performs laser refractive surgery.
Dr. Johnson is a member of both the American Academy of Ophthalmology and American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. In his free time, Dr. Johnson enjoys family activities with his wife and children.
